thank you for this zurui and eChie! you two are given to us such a great gift...how lucky we are to have you two, seriously thank you thank you thank you, take care man! and keep it coming.
......I just got dizzy & collapsed(not really, but kind off :3)....Thank you, thank you very very much. You probably know how much I've/we waited and wanted this.
I believe (the issue between Matsumoto and Hamada) is that, that's just the way they work now. They've seen each other so much over the course of their careers that its pretty much a business relationship now - (That Business being everything "Downtown") No hate, but no relationship off-camera any longer either.
Yes I believe that they are no longer "friends" but just co-workers. They don't even have each others phone numbers and never associate outside of work.
When you have a friend that constantly hitting your head on camera, I understand why they rather treat their relationship like working partners instead. But I believe they still remain as friend at their bottom of their heart. I was touched when Matsumoto said he will reserve a place at either of his or Hamada's funeral to make a speech to give his respect. It is truly bros love!
You guys! Thank you for translating this and sharing it with us fellow Matsumoto fans. Seriously, thank you a thousand times over. While I was a little saddened with the way Matsumoto and Hamada have a strict business-only relationship now, I can understand that that is what works for them. I know a lot of us would like to think of Downtown as being like close brothers but if they're happy then so am I. But how cute was that picture of them when they first started out? I loved it. I also like how Matsumoto always nods his head after he makes a statement when he is talking to someone or being interviewed. It makes me feel like he really wants the viewers to know what he means and where he is coming from.
Thank you for posting this, it was interesting to see Matsumoto behind the scenes. He really is a hard worker and a genius. Well, regarding the (issue between Hamada and Matsumoto) you can see during the meetings that Cocorico, Yamachan, License, Heipo and even Itao was present, but no Hamada. So that goes to show how close they really are.
Matsumoto Hitoshi is my favorite comedian. This documentary kinda of makes it look like he is struggling(but everyone struggles to make a living), but I still think he keeps giving us strong material. I can't get enough of his comedy. I am very glad that he still has comedy skits in his heart. I would't mind if he went back to do stuff like gettsu ee kanji. I just hope he sticks around doing comedy, either it be with gaki or whatever. He will never die or fade away in my opinion. He really is great.
I don't think his relationship with Hamada is in bad condition or anything. I have seen from other videos that they pretty much like working together and have been friends from long time. And if they were to retire, they would do a manzai together. They might not hang out, but still have fun through their work and have been friends since they were kids. How can they just stop liking each other. It's not just professional, there IS history and friendship.
First, I have to say that I'm a HUGE fan of yours since your initial works and I dont mind having to go thru the ads because I know you need the extra cash. But for some of our fellow Matsumoto fans, we really cant access Fileserve and we would really love to own this masterpiece. So could you have an alternate link (eg Megaupload, hotfile)?
It's all right if you refuse(I'm sure that you have your reasons)and I respect your decision(in that case, I just have to find another way, =P).
Matsumoto is getting older and wont be able to do as much physical skits as before so I'm sure he is thinking of skits that doesn't require much activity. This makes things a lot harder I think. Thank you for subbing this!
Not to nag or anything but I am currently watching part2 and when matsumoto talks there is no subtitles, it's not just matsumoto but all the rest when they sit down and brainstorm. I would like to know why we only get to see what the narrator says and not the rest.
Hi Zurui. This is Lovelyroses3. I have problem with my laptop. I tried several times download to winrar then extract to video. But still don't work. I have to bring my laptop to store fix it. But I wonder, can you upload to VEOH? So I can watch it. Can you do that? Hugs hugs Rosemary
Nice documentary there. Kind of what I expected, but he seems like a very eccentric person. I thought they all of Gaki no tsukai were much more closer in real life. Guess not.
I'm glad he decides to keep working with Hamada. Despite their personal differences, no one can deny they just go together on screen so well.
its kinda sad to see matsumodo always alone, when hes out on real life , downtown members doesn't really get along together hosei is with hamada for example hamada annoys the hell out of matsumodo there's certain things he wont talk about hamada other source i found that hamada is only anchor in position he had supposed to be yamasaki is matsumodo partner endo and tanaka just kept their own bussines because they are cocorino the fact that they are juniors dispute that hamada actions few skits in gaki no tsukai failed and he acted like a kid about it endo want to defend yamasaki but instead hamada bullied him for real some of the scene wasn't skit and its real emotion true story gaki no tsukai members
While Masumoto's working relationships are interesting, the best part is seeing his approach to comedy. His thought processes and the evolution of his ideas are fascinating, and they show how passionate and talented he is.
I love how his creative decisions don't come down to choosing option "A" or "B". Instead, he tackles the problem from another angle entirely (for example: deciding that instead of revisiting a recurring segment, they should film the actor's reaction to seeing someone else do it).
There's also the fact that he can go directly from an extended meeting developing sketches to working on a variety show. He seems to have a massive amount of mental discipline.
Thank you so much to everyone involved in translating such a great documentary and making it available to us. You all did an excellent job and it's sincerely appreciated.
Wow at first I just thought they lived carefree lives and had fun all the time being a comedian and all... never thought they had to work this hard... this was really an eye opener and an inspiration... I watch this whenever I become lazy xD thanks for subbing! you guys are the best! Matsumoto is a genius!!!
Thanks for the reply. Happy to know that the time I discover your content is also the time you make your comeback! I could download it on Playtube even though it took me more than 8 hours. If you need the file, I would be more than happy to send it to you! Lots of love, nashyx.
Thank you for the support! I'm glad you found us and have the opportunity to enjoy some of our work. The site is far from updated but I'll get it there eventually. I have this file, but I can't access the Youtube account to re-upload it. Unfortunately, YT has blocked me out from all of my YT accounts at this time, probably due to inactivity.

Thank you for this, it has made my day. Although, it is somehow depressing seeing how true the stories about Matsumoto and Hamada's relationship are.
ReplyDeleteSeeing how much he works and how much he puts into his work is inspiring though, and seeing him ad-lib like that is crazy.
Thanks again :)
Hey guys, what happened between Matsumoto and Hamada???
ReplyDeleteLooks like they have a really big issue....

I agree, they seem a lot closer when we see them working together but this documentary really sheds the light on their relationship.

DeleteThank you so much for this. Matsumoto-san is very cerebral in his methodology. A true auteur like Beat Takeshi.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the password for the winrar file? Just downloaded it and its asking for a password...
ReplyDeletePassword: gakifiles.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThank you for the subtitles. You guys are the best! :)
